thanksgiving break
Okayyy so I don't know if anyone else is in the same boat as me, but I haven't been home in a month and I'm so eager to get back for some reason. Sure all this seclusion and no parental supervision has been a blast, but there is that part of me that misses home sweet home and all my broskis back in Debary. Over summer B it was different because I went home basically every weekend and once fall started I found myself so occupied that I didn't really have time to go home. Not to mention everytime I did go home I basically had like 36 hours to get around to all my family and friends. This thanksgiving break should be a nice relief of stress because I'll have 4 days to plan my time out evenly with all my friends and family making sure I get to see everyone's faces that I've been missing this past semester. On top of having these 4 days off, one of them is going to be the greatest feast of the year! I love eating a plethora of turkey and other thanksgiving assorted foods then relaxing and sleeping and doing it all again. I think this thanksgiving is going to be an extra special one because it's going to be one that requires me to come home. So me going back to home cooking and pampering by the mother is going to be a nice change for the next couple days. Compared to me eating dining hall foods and doing my own damn laundry in these ghetto ass laundry rooms. I just hope everyone has a safe thanksgiving and make it memorable because this is our first freshman thanksgiving break!

Facebook is such a crazy phenomenom because it is inhibited nearly all of america's lives. Everyone I meet or already know has a facebook. When I went to Switzerland 2 summers ago just about the same outcome. A lot of my family members had facebook and would stay up to date with it. It is interesting to see how such a simple idea that came about from some teenagers has been so useful and addicting. I can say that every day I check my facebook and even if I don't have any notifications I still find myself somehow wasting time on facebook when there are 23464 more productive things that I can be doing. Facebook has become the new myspace but has exceed myspace in popularity and usage. Also cool thing about facebook is how people can create ads, groups, or even games that help unite people or just waste time. Facebook does definitely play a huge part in my procrastination of homework during my college life so far and it will surely continue until the next era of cyber communicating pops up. Until then I plan on playing my farmville or chatting it up with my peeps. Oh and crazyyy story I heard on the radio a couple weeks ago was about this mother in Floirda killing her few month old baby because it was crying while she was trying to play her famville! I was so astonished when I heard this, like what the hell are people coming to these days.

Dining Halls
So basically everyone should know how it feels to have a meal plan. A majority of us are freshman and were forced to pay for two or three semesters of dining hall services on campus. Adding to that, we were also forced to live on campus for a year unless we lived in a certain county. Focusing on dining services, they cost $1800 a semester. That is a shit load of money to eat for 1 whole year basically. Because I came for summer B I payed an extra 1800 basically.I think the main reason why I want to blog about dining halls is because they are starting to disappoint me. Over summer B i was pretty satisfied with what they were feeding us; although they did have their bad days sometimes, it was over all good. Since fall semester has started I feel like the quality of the food, the service, and availability has been slacking. For example, over summer I ate a lot of sandwiches and didn't mind the meat, but now I barely eat the sandwiches because the turkey breast tastes phoney as hell. And certain meats just scare me. As for service I feel like there are some scarier people working there than ever before or they are really slow at serving which gets to me because I can be very impatient at times. As for availability, lines have been getting longer and longer and I always see empty plates. And for a growing man it is necesary for me to get my food in. I feel like they are under staffed really. Especially in the back because whenever I got to put my plates away, 8 times out of 10 there is a huge pile of dishes not moving. I just can't wait to move off campus and worry about cooking my own food and not relying on some cheap nasty taste food.

Halloween Horror Nights XX
So to start off the Halloween weekend me and some of my pledge brothers went to Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios. I have personally gone to HHN the past couple years and it is honestly the best place to go and get scared. The detail and production of everything is so real; especially Universal has such a huge prop and costumes things to make the haunted houses and scare zones look so real. It was some of my friends' first time going there and they all had a blast. Unfortunately there was a pretty good amount of people so the lines were like 30-45 min waits or like 20. What was pretty cool was the fact they still had some rides open like The Mummy and Men in Black. The theme this year was pretty interesting; it was basically a reunion of all the previous years' themes. For example, on of the houses had 20 rooms that had each years' theme in it. That was definitely my favorite haunted house out of the whole place. Since it was a Thursday night that we went on, the park closed at 1Am which didn't give us enough time to make it to every haunted house but we made our way through it pretty good. It was pretty fortunate that we didn't have to drive back home to Tampa after HHN because we were all so pooped. So we decided to rent hotels a block away from Universal. Then the next night Bulls Club had a halloween party so I got to where a cool Lieutenant Dangle costume! I'd have to say my first Halloween was pretty sweet.

Midterm week
So I don't know if I was the only one who had a shit load of stuff to do this past week! It honestly felt like all my pledge brothers weren't cramming or doing last minute homework like I was. Since I normally procrastinate, I started to study monday. And this past week I had a Chemistry for today exam and Humanities exam. Luckily for chemistry I had gained a pretty good grasp on the knowledge that was taught to us for the exam. As for my humanities class though, as in a previous blog, it was ridiculous because my teacher is retarded. So we had to memorize all these stupid medieval, renaissance, and modern songs. On top of that we had to learn about theater and literature. So I had to upload all these unusual songs onto my ipod so I could study for the test by just walking around. Well when Thursday came along I took that test with a positive mentality and walked away with a positive mentality. Then right after I studied some more for my chemistry test. On Friday I think I raped my chem test so it helped start off for a good weekend. After this midterm week has passed I am so eager for this coming week to hurry up and get here because its going to be halloweeenn!!! I have this amazing Lieutenant Dangle costume from Reno 911 that I can't wait to wear. Plus I just got my haircut so I'll be looking more to the part than ever. I'm glad I finally figured out how to follow people.

Anchor Splash
So every year all the fraternities and sororities get together throughout multiple times in the year to throw these huge philanthropies that are charitable events to help raise money. Things like Anchor Splash, Putting on the Hits, Graffiti for Gehrig, and Octobreast are some of which help raise money for certain charities. Well the first philanthropy that was scheduled for fall semester was Anchor Splash which is Delta Gamma's, one of the sororities, big philanthropy of the semester which was for people who are less fortunate and have visual problems and the blind. Well me being pledge AKA phikeia, me and all my pledge brothers had to put on a routine along with all the other fraternities and sororities. Everyone's dance had to consist of a on-land routine and an in water synchronized swim. So we had 2 dance coaches who had been dancers for a while and started practice a week and half before. Our theme for the dance was the Twilight saga bologna and all Michael Jackson songs with some Deadmau5 to liven it up. It took me and my fellow phikeia 2 practices from 10PM-2AM to get the on land routine down. Then took us 4 practices from 10PM-2AM each time to get the synchronized swimming part down which included a lot of flips, flyers, and these cheer looking positions. On Sunday was the day of Anchor Splash so all the sororities and fraternities had to perform their routine in literally hundreds of people. My fraternity, Phi Delta Theta, got 3rd place in performance and 1st place overall which was a huge victory for us! After we were announced the winners all of our fraternity and coaches jumped in the water and went wild for a minute. Then I had to live down my glory and go to bed because I had stupid College Algebra in the morning.

homecoming week
This past week, October 4 to the 9th has been USF's twenty fourth annual homecoming! Every night there had been some scheduled event or festivity going on to get all us bulls involved. For a couple of the days out of homecoming week the school had set up this pretty legit carnival down the road from Greek village. Admission was free but you had to pay for all the rides; so unfortunately I didn't ride too many rides, but I still had a blast celebrating some school spirit. Aside from the carnival there was also a homecoming dance which was a fancy ball that was held in the Marshal Student Center. I didn't attend this ball mainly cause I didn't really feel like going and I had homework. But I heard the dance was formal which is nothing compared to my high school homecoming which wasn't really formal at all. Biggest part of homecoming is the school's big homecoming game, which was against Syracuse. In the perfect scenario the home team wins their homecoming game but sadly we lost our game today. In the blistering heat I had to witness us lose but the tailgate was really fun today because my fraternity had our alumni come out. Overall for this being my first college homecoming experience I must say it has been a good week and I can't wait till next year for our 25th annual homecoming which is going to be bigger and better for sure.
